The four of us have been incredibly busy lately. With sports, theater, work, school, and so many other things, there's never enough time in the day. But even so, when my Moral Theology teacher was lecturing today, my attention was grabbed and I felt deeply compelled to share his words and the subsequently the thoughts that these words inspired with all of you.
In Romans 7:14, Paul speaks of how he feels he is slave to sin. He says he often finds himself doing the very things that he hates.
Our culture tells us that sin isn't really sin. It says Truth is relative and what is bad for you may not be bad for me. It tells us that our goal is to 'find ourselves' and 'follow our hearts'.
But which 'self' are we seeking? By following our passions are we seeking out the self that Paul says is slave to sin? Are we allowing ourselves to take the easy road to the earthly pleasures that our culture neglects to call sin?
Our true value is found in God.
Our true selves are the ones who've answered the call to be slave to God and to, therefore, be free.
Instead of wondering how others view us and instead of doing things so the world will 'like' us, why do we not ask how Christ views us? His is the only opinion that truly matters.
"Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from the body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord."
No matter how busy we are, no matter where we do it, we must always be seeking Christ, for in falling in love with Him we will find the greatest of adventures.
